LED Phototherapy
Advanced LED Phototherapy for men and women, offered from our Purley, Croydon clinic to improve skin clarity, reduce inflammation, and stimulate collagen production.
What is LED Phototherapy?
The Dermalux Flex system delivers LED Phototherapy (Red, Blue, Near Infared or combined therapy)
LED Phototherapy is based on the principle that living cells are able to absorb and are influenced by light and the treatment has long been recognised for its regenerating and anti-inflammatory properties.
This can be used as a stand alone treatment or combined with Microneedling for increased results. A course of treatments is recommended. £40 per LED session. This technology can be applied to counteract a number of skin conditions including:
- Acne
- Fine Lines & Wrinkles
- Pigmentation
- Hair Follicle Stimulation
- Joint Pain
- Wound Healing
- Scar Reduction
How Does it work?
Red Light: Red light stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential proteins for maintaining the skin’s firmness and elasticity. It also promotes circulation, reduces inflammation, and aids in wound healing.
Blue Light: Blue light has antimicrobial properties and is primarily used to target and kill acne-causing bacteria. It helps reduce acne breakouts and can also regulate oil production in the skin.
Green Light: Green light targets melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing pigment in the skin. It can help reduce hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and other forms of skin discoloration.
Near-Infrared Light: Near-infrared light penetrates the deepest into the skin and can enhance cellular metabolism, promote tissue repair, and provide anti-inflammatory effects.
Specific Treatment: Depending on the desired outcome, the appropriate LED color or combination of colors is selected for the treatment. The skin is exposed to the LED light for a specific duration, typically around 15 to 30 minutes per session.

Frequently asked questions:
No, the treatment is completely painless and does not generate heat. You lie comfortably while the light panel sits near your face, and most people find the experience relaxing. There is no tingling, stinging, or warmth involved. Because there is no physical contact with the skin, it is one of the gentlest options available for supporting skin health without any discomfort during or after the session.
Yes, it is one of the safest treatments for sensitive or reactive skin types. The light does not irritate, strip, or inflame the skin, which makes it suitable for people who struggle with redness or sensitivity after other procedures. A consultation will confirm whether your skin condition is appropriate, particularly if you have photosensitivity or are using prescription skin medication that affects light tolerance.
Most clients begin to see smoother texture and reduced redness after three or four sessions. Results are gradual rather than immediate, as the treatment works by encouraging cellular processes over time. A full course of six to eight sessions will deliver the most noticeable improvement. Maintenance appointments every few months help sustain the benefit, particularly if your skin is prone to inflammation or uneven tone.
Yes, LED phototherapy is often used alongside other treatments to speed up healing and improve outcomes. It works particularly well after microneedling, as the light helps calm inflammation and support collagen repair. It can also be used before events or between more intensive treatments to keep the skin looking fresh. Your practitioner will advise on timing and which wavelengths to use depending on your treatment plan.
No, there is no downtime at all. Your skin will look and feel exactly the same immediately after the treatment. You can wear makeup, go back to work, exercise, and continue with your normal skincare routine. This makes LED phototherapy a convenient option for people with busy schedules who want to improve their skin health without planning around recovery time or visible side effects.
